Part 3: The Crucifixion of Jesus

Apr 13, 2025    Andrew Patrick

This Sunday, we continued our series The Road to Easter by focusing on the death and crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

We explored the central question: Why did Jesus have to die?

Jesus' death was not random—it was purposeful. He had to die to pay the penalty for our sins. Scripture teaches that the wages of sin is death, and only a perfect, sinless sacrifice could satisfy the justice of God. Jesus took our place, absorbing the wrath we deserved so we could receive mercy and grace.

We also looked at why His death had to be public—on a cross. It fulfilled prophecy, demonstrated the weight of our sin, and served as a powerful, visible display of God's love and justice. The cross wasn’t just a method of execution; it was a public declaration that Jesus bore our shame, so we could walk in freedom.

His death wasn't the end—it was the turning point of history and the foundation of our salvation.
