Graduation Sunday 2026: Do Not Be Deceived
This powerful message confronts us with an uncomfortable truth: we have an enemy who specializes in deception, and we're far more susceptible to his lies than we realize. Drawing from John 8, 2 Corinthians 11, and 1 Timothy 4, we're reminded that Satan masquerades as an angel of light, not announcing himself with obvious evil but subtly weaving lies into our thinking.
The sermon unpacks six critical deceptions that plague even committed believers: the lie that we've got everything under control, that busyness equals productivity, that wealth is worth chasing, that sin isn't really a big deal, that the next phase of life will finally complete us, and that we're immune to the influence of our surroundings. What makes this message so convicting is how it exposes the ways these lies rob us of God's grace. When we believe we've got this handled, we miss the beautiful truth of 2 Corinthians 12:9 that God's strength is made perfect in our weakness. When we chase after wealth or the next milestone, we become like Solomon who had everything yet found it all to be vanity, grasping for smoke.
The call here is urgent and clear: don't be deceived. We must recognize these lies for what they are and return to the truth that abundant life is found only in relationship with Jesus, not in our own strength, achievements, or circumstances.
