Part 25: Prophecy and Tongues- Part Two
This second message in 1 Corinthians 14 challenges us to reconsider what our gatherings as believers should truly look like. At the heart of this message is a radical question: Are we pursuing experiences, or are we pursuing Jesus? The distinction matters profoundly.
We live in a culture obsessed with emotional highs and spiritual spectacles, but God's Word calls us to something deeper—gatherings marked by love, peace, and genuine edification. The sermon walks us through Paul's careful instructions about prophecy and tongues, reminding us that spiritual gifts are never about showcasing our spirituality but about building up the body of Christ. Every spiritual gift has one clear purpose - edify the Church. What's particularly convicting is the emphasis on understanding—God is not the author of confusion but of peace.
When we gather, people should leave not dazzled by chaos but transformed by truth. The call here is both humbling and empowering: we are temples of the Holy Spirit, called to be lights in a dark world, and our corporate worship should reflect the character of the God we serve—orderly, loving, and always focused on His glory and His mission rather than our own.
