Part 2: Peace with God
What does it truly mean to be at peace? Most of us spend our lives chasing after it through relationships, financial security, or personal success, yet somehow it always seems just out of reach. Romans 5:1 cuts straight to the heart of that restless longing by revealing something profound: the peace we were made for is not first a feeling but a fact. It is peace with God himself. This message walks us through why that distinction matters so deeply. Before we could ever experience peace within, there had to be a resolution to the greatest conflict any of us has ever been part of, the conflict between a holy God and the sinful humanity that had turned away from him. The staggering truth is that we were not merely distant from God or indifferent toward him. Romans 5:10 describes us as enemies. And yet God, rather than waiting for his enemies to become his friends, took the initiative to make peace possible through the death of his Son. That is not just theology. That is the most breathtaking act of grace in all of human history. Understanding where we stood before Christ is not meant to discourage us. It is meant to make the peace we now enjoy feel as extraordinary as it actually is. When we grasp the depth of the conflict that was resolved on our behalf, the peace we have with God stops being a background fact we take for granted and starts becoming the treasure that fuels everything about how we live.
